So the results are in and it was actually pretty close but flush won with 57% of the vote.
So if you are trying to decide between flush or storm windows what are the differences?
Flush windows were the original window system but when they were made from timber water would get in and start to attack the window from the inside. This problem was solved when the lipped casement or Storm design was created as it gave the window another seal to reduce the amount of water getting in.
With uPVC systems water is no longer a problem as they have drainage systems built in, plus with modern technology the seals are the best they have ever been.
The system you saw in our poll photos is the Evolution Timber alternative window and as the name suggest it’s design to imitate timber. The specially designed profile is made to be wider to allow for authentic furniture like peg stays, the outer frame is exactly the same for both systems but with the flush system you are limited to the rustic black peg stay only.
In terms of efficiently the systems are the same and with the same range of finishes the only difference would be the look, so at the end of the day it really only comes to personal preference.
To complete the timber look the Evolution system also has a welded timber look joint which is specially designed with an 85% weld, giving you a very neat and uniform finish.
